Capturing Special Family Moments: A Beautiful Session at Midlothian Mines Park

One of the best parts of being a family photographer is when longtime friends lead to special photo sessions. I recently had the joy of photographing the beautiful Melanie, Chris, Lana, and their adorable English bulldog, Marley—at the stunning Midlothian Mines Park. This session was particularly close to my heart since Lana and my daughter have been friends for years, making it even more meaningful to capture this moment for them.

The family's outfits were a perfect match for the late summer backdrop of the park. Lana looked beautiful in her light blue floral print dress, while her mom, Melanie, complemented her in a slightly darker blue dress. Chris added a nice pop of color in his light pink polo, creating a harmonious look that truly stood out against the park's greenery and rustic charm.

Marley, their loyal English bulldog, was, of course, the star of the session! Including pets in family photos adds such a personal touch, and Marley’s playful presence made for some fun and candid moments. We captured a variety of shots, from cozy family snuggles to sweet moments of Marley interacting with everyone.

Midlothian Mines Park was the perfect location for this session. Its blend of nature and historical structures provided a beautiful, serene backdrop, allowing us to create a variety of images that truly reflect the family’s bond and love for each other. Whether it was walking along the water or gathering under the trees, the park offered the perfect mix of open space and texture for timeless photos.
